Holding lectures that deal with the design of our environment in the broadest sense is a main activity of aut. Guests not only include international stars, but also “old masters” and young architects at the beginning of their careers.

Lectures by Austrian and international architects, city and landscape planners, as well as engineers, but also by artists, designers, graphic artists, theoreticians and social scientists, symposia with national and international experts, “on-site” talks and excursions, the biennially held, Austria-wide “Architekturtage,” book presentations, panel discussions, readings, film evenings, concerts and festivals – at aut the most diverse events concerning architecture and design take place.
In the various event series and program formats, themes and current discussions are also taken up and perspectives opened, such as on the topic of “living,” the future development of the city, but also of the village, resp., the countryside.
Beyond the core theme of “architecture,” aut examines the high-quality design of our living space, for instance, in the fields of graphic arts, typography, design, photography, film and art.
In the scope of the “on-site” talk series, architects give tours through recently completed buildings in Tyrol.
Presented in the form of three brief lectures with a following discussion, the „nimm 3“ (“take 3”) series is devoted to current issues concerning architecture.
Every two years the Architekturtage, the largest Austria-wide event dealing with architecture and building culture, take place.

Architecture and film is a regular topic at aut, during film evenings, film series in cooperation with Leokino Cinematograph or at exhibitions.
Graphic arts and typography as an aspect of contemporary design is regularly a theme at aut – from exhibitions and spatial interventions to the co-initiated lecture series [typo]graphic.
Design has always been an essential theme at aut – in exhibitions such as „Ray und Charles Eames“ in 1998 or at lectures of renowned international designers.
Again and again aut animates artists, photographers and filmmakers to develop exhibitions that are free from the conditions of the art market or to present their works at lectures.
