As one of the “midwives” of bilding, aut is pleased that a vision has become reality and that a new location of aesthetic education and creative fostering for children and young people could arise in Innsbruck’s Rapoldipark.
the commitment
more than an exhibition space and an extensive program offer
aut sees itself not only as an exhibition space or event center, but is involved in many ways in questions concerning the high-quality design of our living space.
Since its founding in 1993, aut has participated – frequently in coordination with the Chamber of Architects and Chartered Engineering Consultants for Tyrol and Vorarlberg and the Central Association of Austrian Architects in Tyrol –in political or public discussions about concrete projects or future developments of the City of Innsbruck as well as the State of Tyrol.
Projects were and are regularly implemented by aut on behalf of or in cooperation with public sector entities and private partners.
In networks such as the bættlegroup for art or Innsbruck Contemporary, aut continuously works together with the art scene and its institutions in order to improve the framework conditions for the production and mediation of art.
As the client of the temporary platform „... ich will an den Inn“ during the Architekturtage 2008 (architecture: columbosnext) and of the „stattSTUBE“ (architecture: Tortenwerkstatt) four years later – both in Innsbruck’s Waltherpark – aut erected structures in public space that made architecture come alive on a one-to-one scale.
Moreover, aut was the “midwife” of two institutions that have spread their own wings in the meantime: In 2005, the lecture series [typo]graphic was initiated, spawning the independent association WEI SRAUM, which moved into its own premises in 2015.
Likewise in 2015, bilding, an art and architecture school for children and young people planned by students for young people and led by the former aut employee Monika Abendstein, came into being.
In the scope of the Architekturtage 2008, aut commissioned the erection of a temporary structure in public space for the first time with the „... ich will an den inn“ platform by columbosnext; it was followed in 2012 by the „stattSTUBE“ conceived by Tortenwerkstatt.
From the lecture series [typo]graphic, co-initiated by aut, to the founding of an own association, to the new center for the (graphic)design and creative scene in Innsbruck
Continuously projects were and are implemented by aut on behalf of or in cooperation with public entities and private partners.
As an independent cultural institution, aut is integrated into several networks in Innsbruck, Tyrol and Austria and continuously works together with the local art scenes in order to improve the framework conditions for the production and mediation of art.
Since its founding, aut has been constructively involved in topical political discussions in Innsbruck and the State of Tyrol, frequently in coordination with the Chamber of Architects and Chartered Engineering Consultants and the Central Association of Austrian Architects, Tyrolean State Association.
