Catrina Beevor and Robert Mull met as students and were founder membrs of the NATO (Narrative Architecture Today). They have taught at the AA and elsewhere since 1984 and Robert Mull is currrently Head of the School of Architecture at the University of North London. their practice Beevor Mull Architects has initiated and been involved in projects that try to expand the envelope in which we operate as architects and thereby define a new and more sicially accountable role for the architect in contemporary culture. In parallel the practice has pursued built work with a clearly defined social and political purpose. However one issue unites all these projects and is the basis of the research Beevor Mull is currently engaged in, that is the architect''s ability to generate and sustain social as well as physical structures. They have developped methods of engaging with local social, economic and political conditions based upon direct action within the urban environment and direct involvement with the organisations and individuals that shape it. It is the role of "social entrepreneur" that shapes their contribution to "A social scale"
